Is our social media actually ruining our life?

No. Social media is not ruining our life.

We, however, are free to ruin our own lives by using social media excessively and mindlessly.

The ruin of our lives is in our hands. Use it good or bad its all depends on our

  mind.

When kids are young or in their teenage, then it is their parents' responsibility to teach them the right way to use social media (like every other responsibility listed in the handbook that I was given when I became a mother - kidding, there is no such handbook). It is also the parents' responsibility to make them strong and build their trust so they can declare in their parents if there are any instances of cyberbullying.

But once the proverbial bird leaves the nest, then it becomes that person’s responsibility to manage his own life. To be their own adult.

And that is hard.

The world is full of distractions. Why just social media? You also have streaming services. You have Quora. You have blogs. You have other sites. There is no dearth of distractions if people look for distractions.

But I’ll also remind you, there is no dearth of possibilities either if people look for possibilities.

We sit here and complain about nepotism in the film industry, and then try to write off the entire social media when in reality that is the new equalizer.

Even if we were to discount for all the people who are now doing the work that they love to do, the business opportunity that the small businesses get is huge. Grand. Magnificent.

A garment shop owner sitting in Kashmir can sell his clothes to a customer in Kanyakumari. Why only within India? If he pleases, he can also ship his merchandise to New York.

When I land in a small town in the middle of nowhere, I can already know which ones are the good restaurants to eat. When I book a ticket to Bali, I can already see the reviews and decide where do I want to stay.

Confused about which skin care product to buy? Look up reviews on social media. If I filter well, I can get unadulterated reviews of almost everything (filtering well is a must, a lot of reviewers do sponsor posts, which means those reviews are not genuine).

Life is so convenient.

So much easier than it was just until 10 years ago.
